デザインの調整から
今回はYAMAHA SG-RRのピックガードへゼマイティス「Aces & Eights」を彫金していきます、
ゼマイティスで多いご依頼の「追い彫り」に関してはHPでレポートはしないのですが、
今回は新しいピックガードへ新規での彫金なので完成までの流れを少しご紹介させていただきます。
まずはデザインを調整します、
SGはほぼ左右対称なので各部デザインをバランス良く配置するためにサイズの調整をして、
すべてのデザインを覚えるつもりで細かい線を調整しながら書き直しします。
縁もデザインの癖を確認しながらピックガードに直接下書きをしていきます。
デザインの準備が整ったところで縁から中心部分まで全体の彫金を行っていきます、
線の強弱の見直しを行い、墨入れの工程へと向かいます。。

While we don't usually report on "over-engraving" (a common request for Zemaitis guitars) on our website,
this time, since it's a new engraving on a new pickguard, we'll give you a brief overview of the process.
First, we adjust the design.
Since the SG is almost symmetrical, we adjust the size to ensure a balanced placement of each design element.
We redraw the design, adjusting the fine lines as if we're memorizing them.
We also sketch the edges directly onto the pickguard, checking the design's characteristics.
Once the design is ready, we begin engraving from the edges to the center.
We review the line thickness and then move on to the ink-filling process.

墨入れと仕上げ
今回の墨入れはかなり薄めた塗料を3回塗り重ねていきます、
理由は彫った面を塗料で完全に塞がず面を残すことによって、
角度を変えると面が光る、如何にも手彫り彫金らしさを残しておきたかったからです。
薄めた塗料を時間をかけて少しずつ重ねる理由は塗料の割れや剥がれに強くするためでもあります。
墨入れを終え、表面を整えていよいよ完成です。

For this inking process, I'll be applying three coats of very thinned paint.
The reason is that I didn't want to completely cover the engraved surfaces with paint; I wanted to leave some of the surface visible.
When the angle changes, the surface shines, preserving the distinctive look of hand-engraved metalwork.
Applying the thinned paint little by little over time also helps to make the paint more resistant to cracking and peeling.
After finishing the inking and smoothing the surface, it's finally complete.

改めてゼマイティス（ダニー・オブライエン氏）のデザインの素晴らしさを感じるお仕事となりました、
先駆者のみが本物であり、本物だけが出せる説得力や迫力があります。
技術の向上、新しい彫金への挑戦、少しずつ勉強させていただきながら
決して追いつくことのできない先駆者の背中を追っていきたいと思います。。。

This project has once again made me appreciate the brilliance of Zemaitis'(Danny O'Brien) designs.
Only pioneers are truly authentic, possessing a persuasive power and impact that only true masters can deliver.
I will continue to improve my skills, challenge myself with new metalworking techniques, and learn little by little, striving to follow in the footsteps of these pioneers, whom I can never quite reach.
