デザインを考える
今回は現在企画が進行中のメタルフロントに向けたプロトタイプになります、
バイクのエンジンカバーのような3mm以上の厚みがある素材の場合はたまにやりますが
太くても2mmのピックガードではこのような立体的なアプローチはあまり行いませんが
3レイヤーと表面処理でどのような見え方になるかを試すために制作を行います、
コントラストに関しても少し実験的なハーフ＆ハーフで仕上げていきます。

This time, it's a prototype for a metal front that's currently in development.
While I occasionally do this with materials thicker than 3mm, like motorcycle engine covers,
I don't usually take this kind of three-dimensional approach with pickguards that are at least 2mm thick.
I'm making this to test how it will look with three layers and surface treatment.
I'll also be using a slightly experimental half-and-half finish for the contrast.

3段階の彫金
まずは線を彫り、2レイヤー目の背景を彫り、3レイヤー目（真ん中）のスクロールの影部分を彫っていきます、
背景部分はとにかく時間がかかる作業なので根気よく作業を行います、
途中で背景部分は細目の梨地処理をしています。
この辺りではちゃんと着地できるか若干の不安も抱えつつ頭の中の完成イメージに向け作業を続けます。

First, I carve the lines, then the background on the second layer, and then the shadow area of the scroll on the third layer (the middle).
The background is a very time-consuming task, so I work patiently.
I apply a fine textured finish to the background partway through.
At this point, I have some slight anxiety about whether I'll be able to finish it properly, but I continue working towards the finished image in my mind.

墨入れとカラーバランス調整
まだゴールが全く見えない中、このパートで完全に仕上げなければなりません、
2枚の画像のみですが実際は何度も墨入れを行い、削り、全体のバランスをチェックして最終的にこのような仕上げになりました、
ゴミ箱行きも覚悟しましたが何とか生還でき一安心です、ここまで30時間以上かかってますので。。。
細かな表面処理を行いいよいよ完成です。

With the finish line still nowhere in sight, this part absolutely had to be completed.
Although there are only two images, in reality, I applied ink multiple times, sanded, checked the overall balance, and finally arrived at this finish.
I was prepared for it to end up in the trash, but thankfully it survived. It took over 30 hours to get this far.
After some fine-tuning of the surface, it's finally complete.

ようやく完成
さて一度も触れませんでしたが同じイメージで制作したロッドカバーも含め、完成しました。
ロッドカバーは1mmで制作したので2レイヤーとなっております、
撮影時に近くにあったので82年のレスポールに添えて撮影してみました、
本作品は現行のレスポールのピックガードをベースとしており、古いレスポールに微妙にサイズが合わず
エスカッションも歪んでいたり、という状態でしたので添えるだけにしております。

Well, I haven't mentioned it before, but the rod cover, which was made with the same design, is now complete.
The rod cover was made with 1mm material, so it's a two-layer design.
I had an '82 Les Paul nearby when I took the photos, so I placed it next to it for the shot.
This piece is based on a current Les Paul pickguard, and it didn't quite fit the older Les Paul.
The escutcheon was also warped, so I just placed it next to it.
I was able to gather a lot of data this time, so please look forward to the special project, Metal Front!
