From design to line carving.
デザインからすじ彫りへ
少々日時が前後しますが、昨年末に「Sago New Material Guitars 」様でお仕事をさせていただきました、
以前デザインした「鯨の跳躍」からの発生になりますが和柄との組み合わせのご依頼でした為、
麻の葉模様を海に見立ててリデザインを行いました。
「うねり」とアンバランスさが欲しかったのでデジタルではなく手書きで麻の葉を描いて、
海面と海中でデザインを反転させています、Sago様のロゴを波飛沫に紛らせて入れてみました。。
早速縁を罫書いてすじ彫りを行ったところです。

This is a result of the previously designed "Whale Leaping", but since the request was to combine it with a Japanese pattern,
We redesigned the hemp leaf pattern to resemble the sea.
I wanted undulations and imbalance, so I drew the hemp leaves by hand rather than digitally.
The design is reversed on the sea surface and under the sea, and I tried to put Sago's logo in the sea spray. .
I immediately marked the edges and carved the lines.
From deep carving to inking.
段落としから墨入れへ
ラインを強調する為、1mm程深く彫っていきます、最も骨が折れる作業です。
彫り終えたら全体の線を整えて墨入れへ。。
何度か墨入れ、ペーパー掛けを繰り返して最後に影を付けて完成ですが、
ペーパーの際に強めにリーフを入れる事でライティングの際に
海中に光がさして揺らぐ感じに見える部分がポイントです、メタルアートならではの表現方法かと思います。

Once the carving is finished, the overall lines are adjusted and the ink is added. .
I added ink several times, applied paper over it, and finally added shadows to complete it.

The key point is the part that looks like light shining into the sea and flickering, which I think is a method of expression unique to metal art.
Finished the back side and assembled it into the guitar.
